No Cost - No Trespassing Signs for Construction Site for Neptune Beach Residents

To best serve our residents, and ensure compliance with Florida Law, the following guidance is being provided to all building permit applicants for the protection of their property while undergoing construction. Pursuant to F.S. 810.09 & 810.011: “an offender commits a felony of the third degree if the property trespassed is a construction site. ‘Construction site’ means any property upon which there is construction that is subject to building permit posting requirements”. Proper signage and location are critical for successful prosecution should an offender trespass on your property. For this reason, the Neptune Beach Police Department provides - free of charge – no trespassing signs.

Properties with one acre or less in area:

  • Posted signs should appear prominently and conspicuously, at the location on the property where the permits for construction are located.
  • Signs must be international orange color, no less than 2” in height, which reads: “THIS AREA IS A DESIGNATED CONSTRUCTION SITE, AND ANYONE WHO TRESPASSES ON THIS PROPERTY COMMITS A FELONY”.

Properties of greater than 1 acre in area:

  • Signs placed not more than 500 feet apart along, and at each corner of, the boundaries of the land, in such position as to be clearly noticeable from outside the boundary line.
  • Signs appear prominently and conspicuously, so that the bottom of the sign is not less than 3 feet from the ground or more than 5 feet from the ground.
  • Contain the name of the owner, lessee, or occupant of said land.
  • Placed at locations that are readily visible to any person approaching the property and at all places where entry to the property is normally expected or known to occur.
